Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I change a facility type once the information is already entered?
A. Because each facility type has specific questions that relate to it, you cannot change the facility type without corrupting data that has already been collected. The solution is to delete the facility and simply add a new one of the correct type.

Q. Can I assign more than one username and password to my agency?
A. At this point, we are assigning one liaison to every agency and that liaison is free to share the username and password information with others from the same agency. It is strongly suggested, however, that one person have primary responsibility for modifying data.

Q. What happened to the data I entered in the old ActiveParks system?
A. All your data was migrated to the new Facility Inventory Manager, except for some of the facility attributes. Since the way data is being collected differs and some of the questions don't match, you'll find that some attributes are missing in the new system. Simply click on corresponding facilities to verify and/or add missing data.

Q. How do I gain access to reporting and benchmarking statistics?
A. In order for reports to present accurate data, they can only be run against agencies that have completed entering all their facility data. In order to gain access to reporting features you will need to have completed your online inventory, including certain key required variables, such as population, budget and park acreage. Once you've completed entering your entire inventory, simply click on the "Reporting" link found on the agency management console after first logging into the FIM. You'll then see a link that says, "I've completed entering all my Facility Data." After clicking this "completed" link, your information will be sent to NRPA for verification and assignment of a reporting link. Once verification, which usually takes less than a week, is complete, the reporting link on your agency console will point directly to a report presentation menu where you can choose and run a variety of reports.

Q. Why can't I use my old ActiveParks username and password?
A. When we migrated the facility data from the old ActiveParks system to the FIM, we merged the username and password data with the Active.com membership database. Consequently, if, for example, a "jsmith" already existed in the Active.com profiles, the FIM will prompt you to use a new username such as "jsmith1" or a new one of your choosing. If there is no conflict with a name in the Active.com membership database, your original ActiveParks password will work fine.

Q. What if I don't see the "facility type" in the drop-down menu of facilities?
A. First, take a moment to scan the different facility types and make sure you didn't miss it. In order to keep consistent, we've purposely kept certain types of facilities together, such as "courts" or "water." So if your looking for volleyball courts, make sure you don't just check the "V" listings because volleyball is found under "Court/Volleyball." If, after familiarizing yourself with the facility types, you still don't see a category that applies, please send e-mail to activeparks@nrpa.org explaining your new facility type suggestion.

Q. What if I don't see a specific attribute that I feel defines my facility?
A. If you believe there's a common activity or attribute that should be associated with a specific facility, but isn't currently in our system, please e-mail activeparks@nrpa.org with the request.

Q. How do I delete a park?
A. From the administrative console, click Manage your parks and a screen with the available parks for your agency will be displayed. Simply click on the park you want to delete and a Park Info screen will appear. From the Park Info screen, choose Edit Basic Park Information and a basic park info box will appear with a delete button in the lower left part of the box.
